Update: Paul Mitchell Hair School

I haven’t blogged in 5 months and that’s so insane, I definitely didn’t forget, I still get emails and the stats so it’s still up and running!

But here’s what I’ve been doing…from working full time to going to school part time and still trying to have a social life is stressful maaan!

I’m in school right now for Cosmetology, what I really want to do is become a barber, but I want to be well rounded in services and not go to beauty school again… Funny because I hated hair, but I’m so used to doing my own hair that I decided why not!

Here’s a few pics of what I’ve been doing.

I just started my hair page separate from my Instagram.

If you wanna follow my journey throughout hair school πŸ˜‰

& I’ll try to keep this updated a little more!

Another excuse to post some selfies…. πŸ˜‰ No, just wanted to share my “go-to” smokey eye look.

Perfect for everyday, date night, or even just a night out on the town.

Literally the easiest look there is possible in 15 mins max.

(P.S My hands are always in pictures, how do I stop? Lol)

L’OrΓ©al Infalliable Pro Matte 24HR Foundation

You know when you find a foundation you’re obsessed with and want to tell the world about? Well, that’s me, right now. It’s been a while that I’ve been obsessed with a foundation but I found the perfect one.

L’OrΓ©al Infalliable Pro Matte 24HR Foundation, $12.99 at your local drugstore/Ulta.

I’ve actually heard about this foundation from “Lustrelux” aka Katy from YouTube. (P.S love her #SnapchatFam”)

So this foundation is so lightweight it’s annoying, I can swipe my hands down my face without any makeup coming off on my fingers.

Now, let’s get technical, it has a silky gliding formula that leaves a demi-matte finish. The water content is so high, that it gives you so much comfort. Medium coverage that’s buildable depending on the brush you use. Blends easily and beautifully. And for being drugstore this foundation last all day/night.

Perfect for anyone with yellow undertones! The only con I would say is that their shades are very limited. I currently use Carmel Beige 108 & Classic Tan 109. I mix them to get my perfect match.  108 is too light and 109 is way too dark, so it meets in the middle.

close-up of me wearing the Pro Matte foundation

The thing about mixing is sometimes your foundation comes off too light, too dark…sometimes even perfect. I’ve been using this foundation for a couple of months now, religiously.

But in all honesty, I really do love this foundation and I recommend this for everyone.

I decided to do a Q&A, with questions submitted to me,  First off, I’m Mahagony…for all my new readers/subscribers.

What inspired you to start your blog?Honestly, I’d have to say Marianna Hewitt. She’s blogger goals. Plus I’m super obsessed with trends, beauty products.

If you could have lunch with one famous person who is a beauty inspiration to you, living or deceased, who would it be and why? You know I hate to say it but it’d be Kim Kardashian because I know she has all the tips/tricks, so it’d definitely be interesting to hear and learn.

What is your favorite skincare product (i.e. face wash, moisturizer, etc.) I really love baby shampoo. It’s so weird, but I just stumbled upon it as a face wash. & I’ve tried numerous cleansers. (Followed by a toner and a moisturizer.) My face has never looked better. But that works for me.

What is your favorite season of the year and why? Okay, I don’t know…I’m stuck between winter & spring. Because I hate being hot and I hate being cold. A perfect day is Sunny, 70’s…with a slight breeze.

What is your favorite item in your wardrobe right now? I love distressed jeans. And of course leggings.

How do you prefer your coffee or tea? Strong, soy latte thanks! I don’t like coffee……lol surprise. If I do have it it’s decaf. I’m a tea kinda girl. Chai Vanilla Soy Latte from Starbucks. Or just brewed tea, all kinds.

Heels or flats? Why? Flats are not cute to me, unless they’re sneakers/boots? But heels, no doubt. All the time.

What is the last film you saw? 007? I believe. I want to see Ride Along 2 & 50 Shades of Black…

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Paris, France. Or Tahoe, or just in a loft somewhere on the 32nd floor overlooking the city lights.

If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy? A loft/condo… I’d buy my family everything they ever needed. Then invest it.

Tell me something about you that most people don’t know. I’m super lactose-intolerant. Can’t really eat gluten…mainly pasta.

If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do? Soooo typical but World Peace, so much is going on that’s it’s frustrating that we all just can’t get along.

Type of music you like most? I honestly listen to every music, but I prefer rap & r&b. Ratchet music, trap..

What was the last thing you bought?Bought some stuff online actually. Couple sunglasses.

Would you go bungee jumping or sky diving? Lol, no. Never.

Which store would you choose to max out your credit card? American Apparel

How many tattoos do you have? As of right now, I have 4. In the process of designing a piece I’m getting.

Is the glass half empty or half full? Well, there’s water in it correct?

If you could have any job, what would you want to do/be? Full-Time Blogger.

What Inspires You? I get a lot of inspiration by looking at pictures. 90’s/ Art,Rock&Roll, Grunge..& everyday life. A lot of inspiration from Rihanna.

Thanks for reading, hope you guys enjoyed!

December & January Ipsy Bag!

If you’re an ipsy subscriber, recieving your Glam Bag continues to be an icing on the cake every month. I’ve combined two months in one post, (since I’ve been slacking)  to express my thoughts on a few products.

December Bag

December was an excellent month. I didn’t post November due to the fact it was the worst bag I’ve recieved from Ipsy by far. For December, I was actually excited when I opened it. (&, I use it the red bag for a my purse makeup bag.)

It included;

  • Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eyeshadow Primer
  • Peony Shadow Trio
  • Clark Botanicals Moisture Mask
  • Briogeo Curl Charisma Leave-In Creme
  • Pacifica Power Of Love Natural Lipstick

Loved the Eyeshadow Primer, but I use it for a brow primer and it works beautifully. Not sticky, hardening nor heavy.

The Shadow Trio, is also my favorite. Colors are gorgeous, vibrant and perfect for a smokey bronze look.

To be honest, I have yet to try the Leave in Creme and Moisture Mask, so I’ll get back to you on that.

Power of Love lipstick is alright, don’t know quite yet when I’ll wear it.  Color is “brick-ish” to me.

Now for January…..

January Bag

January bag was an “ehhh” response. I don’t mind the beauty tools. It’s definitely more skin focused. The bag is dainty and fun.

This bag included;

  • Coastal Scents Pearl Shadow Angle Large Brush
  • theBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now)
  • skyn ICELAND Travel Size Glacial Cleansing Cloths
  • Lasting Smiles Lip Balm in Peppermint Creme
  • City Color Cosmetics Eye Shadow Trio in Falling Leaves

Pearl Shadow Brush, I love the way the brush feels, very soft..haven’t used it yet.

Lip balm, first off I hate lip balm. Personally I feel like it dries your lips & it has addictive properties in it, that constantly make you re-apply all the time. So there’s my thought, I do love the smell. I know I’ll get questions, but I use Vaseline on my lips instead. & I wear lip gloss religiously.

Eye Shadow Trio, colors are vibrant, but they don’t last that long.

Mr.Write(Now) is supposedly the best pencil, and every Ipsy member recieved this, but it’s just another pencil to me.

Glacial Cleansing Cloths, I think they were okay. Removed makeup as other wipes, but they got dry…& I like my wipes wet. Lol I did like the note on the front.

Hey guys, this is different from my typical posts, but I’m here with HomeAway to speak about vacations! If you haven’t seen this video that’s going viral, I’ll link it here …#WholeVacation  & you know there’s something about these motivational speaking videos that seem borderline cheesy, yet intriguing at the same time.

I thought, “Here we go, another person telling me to live in the now & be present.” Words that are better spoken then done.

Except this video is something that I live for. Are we “Working to live, or living to work?” I’d like to think everyone is at this point where your typical “9-5” is not mentally inspiring. Of course it pays the bills, but even even that statement alone, sounds like you don’t like your job, you’re only there for the time being. & that’s great and all…don’t get me wrong I currently have one myself.

This isn’t for you guys. I’m talking to the ones who bury themselves in work and forget to live in the now and let life moments pass you by.

Don’t get so caught up working that you forget what truly matters. Family, friends, the time you’re actually here on this planet. Stated in the video, you’re not going to look back and be like “Dang, I wish I spent more time working…”

If you have vacation time, don’t be afraid to use it. Make memories with the people in your life.
With the HomeAway movement.  HomeAway offers over 1 million vacation rentals to accommodate every budget to help families/friends experience moments together.
